Abstract: Objetivo.
Objetive. The relationship between impulsivity and alcohol consumption was studied in university students and the prevalence of these variables according to gender, age and semester. Method. 195 students from a private university in Lima answered the Barratt Impulsivity Inventory (BIS-11) and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). Results. A positive, but weak relationship was found between impulsiveness and alcohol consumption. Conclusion. Alcohol consumption and impulsivity have reciprocal effects and feed off each other; however, it should be noted that there are other factors that would have a greater influence on the occurrence of these variables.
