Road safety at high-traffic intersections in Lima is a great concern due to the risks that cause road accidents, many of them are due to the poor condition of the intersections and the lack of road safety education. This research work focuses on improving road safety at the intersection of Gran Chimú Avenue and Vara de Oro Avenue, using the star rating methodology of the VIDA-iRAP software. Which, after collecting field data, the state of the current situation of the intersection was evaluated and as a result the deficiencies of the road scenario were revealed, such as: lack of road signs, poor condition of the road surface, demarcations non-existent roads, among others. Despite the presence of functional traffic lights, but in poor condition, the quality of the intersection was classified as poor; these findings suggested adding countermeasures to improve the evaluation of road safety in the area. In addition, with the implementation of appropriate countermeasures in the simulation, which address the reduction of traffic accident risks, it allowed validating the improvement in road safety for users traveling through the intersection. When comparing, a significant increase in the star rating of the improved situation is observed, indicating that it is 94% more efficient than the current situation. These results support the effectiveness of the proposed strategy to improve both the user experience in the area and security
