In Peru, the manufacturing sector presented a recession during 2016 to 2020, resulting in a 12.09% economic contribution for the country. In 2020, the impact of the pandemic unbalanced the textile and apparel industry, specifically in the export channel. Among the types of products highlighted in Peruvian exports is the product with tariff item 6105.10.00.51, being in general terms marketed as shirt polo shirts. This product keeps Peru in 2nd place in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 14th place worldwide in the export channel, despite the fact that during the previously mentioned period it obtained an annual value growth rate of -7%. Regarding the situation of the textile and apparel industry, the implementation team chose to analyze the company “Textil Exportadora”, obtaining that the line of shirt polo shirts of the export channel maintained a low productivity with an average of 66.65% during April 2019 to March 2020. The main reasons were machine stoppages and reprocessing of the product that represented 81.37% of the problem with an economic impact of 4.41% of the turnover, during the period of analysis, for a loss of S/ 441,358.76. Therefore, a model was presented to be implemented with Lean Manufacturing tools: Autonomous and Preventive Maintenance, and POKA-YOKE of contact through the Braille System, which provided a solution to the causes, according to the contribution of scientific sources by similarity. Thus, according to the main causes, objectives linked to each proposed tool were proposed in order to improve the indicators involved. In summary, the implementation of the proposed model lasted 5 months, obtaining a positive performance in the achievement of the objectives. Productivity increased by 9.49%, exceeding the average for the textile sector. The independent indicators also achieved between 0.11% to 0.87% more than their targets. The approval was economically viable, profitable and considerable for the company.
