The study evaluates the feasibility of using recycled crumb rubber as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in rigid concrete for pavements. The mechanical properties of fresh and hardened concrete were analyzed with replacement percentages of 5%, 7.5%, and 10% of rubber. The results indicate that the temperature of fresh concrete is not significantly affected by the inclusion of rubber. However, the workability, density, compressive strength, flexural strength, tensile strength, and elasticity modulus of the concrete decrease with increasing rubber content. The reduction in compressive strength was 11.47%, 33.14%, and 40.56% for 5%, 7.5%, and 10% rubber, respectively. Flexural strength decreased with the inclusion of granulated recycled rubber by 13.13% with 5% rubber compared to standard concrete and up to 31.25% with 10% granulated rubber. Tensile strength decreased with rubber inclusion by 23.66% with 5% rubber compared to standard concrete. The elasticity modulus of standard concrete and concrete with 5% rubber showed very low variation, with only a 2.64% decrease compared to standard concrete. Additionally, cost analyses were conducted considering the price of rubber and other materials. Finally, it is demonstrated that the mixture with 5% recycled crumb rubber could be considered for application in rigid pavements.
