The following research aims at developing an automated refrigerated sea water (RSW) system for the fishing vessel Santa Adela 2 with a storage capacity of 415m3 for the company Ingenieria de Sistemas de Fluidos S.A.C. To be able to develop this system we must consider 2 stages. In the first one, we must develop calculations to obtain the necessary energy required to bring 30% of the hold water to 0°C within a 4-hour timeframe; with these values we are able to start the selection process of the main components, which are: compressor, condenser, evaporator and expansion valve. The second stage is where the fishing is developed and mixed with seawater. Here, the fish enters the cooled water, and a cold shock occurs and the purpose of this second stage is to stabilize the temperature of the mixture (water + fish) to 3°C. In order to develop the second stage, it is necessary to do the calculations to confirm that this second stage can be done in 6 hours. In both the first and the second stage we use RSW cooling which consists in recirculating the seawater on hold through 2 pipes. One is on the top(discharge) and the other at the bottom (suction), so that this suctioned water may pass through the evaporator and discharged into the hold until the temperature reaches the desired values.
