In recent years, it has been observed that SMEs play a significant role in the progress and national economic expansion. This is due to their ability to generate employment, representing 99.5% of the total formal businesses in the Peruvian economy, with microenterprises being the most predominant at 95.6%. In this context, it is crucial for companies to maintain effective control over their processes, ensure quality standards, minimize unproductive times during production, and optimize the use of their machinery. In order to improve efficiency in the production of a manufacturing SME belonging to the paper and/or cardboard sector, efforts are being made to reduce unproductive times and defective products. This endeavor aims to increase productivity, efficiency, and profitability, while simultaneously minimizing the negative economic impact on the company. To address this challenge, tools from the Lean Manufacturing philosophy will be employed, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), along with the application of Jidoka and the 5S method. It is emphasized that the main reason behind this proposal is to maximize resources in the paper and/or cardboard sector of SMEs, with the aspiration that they can grow, stand out, and compete successfully in their industry.
