The mining sector worldwide has undergone a constant and dynamic evolution, generating positive expectations for the future. However, it continues to face critical challenges such as reducing accident rates, both fatal and non-fatal. Although improvements have been made in recent years, efforts are still underway to significantly and efficiently reduce these figures. Therefore, this project focuses on specifically addressing the issue of vehicular accidents in the mining sector in Latin America, with a particular emphasis on Chile. Technology has been essential in optimizing various areas in the mining industry, through the using of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cloud solutions. However, there is still room for improvement in integrating these technologies to achieve a significant reduction in fatality rates and the percentage of accidents in mining operations in Chile. The current project focuses on implementing a MineProtect vehicle collision avoidance system based on geopositioning, utilizing satellite technology for precise vehicle geo-referencing. This system embraces current technologies and is presented as a service aimed at enhancing personnel safety and reducing the number of accidents in mining operations. This solution was tested and excelled with a 99% accuracy and speed in information transmission, effectively meeting the EMERST (Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table) standard established by the mining industry to enhance safety in the use of earth-moving equipment such as mining vehicles. It establishes practices and guidelines with the aim of reducing accidents and improving mining operation safety. This enables the enhancement of the investment already made by mining companies and improves efficiency in accident prevention.
