In 2022, the heavy equipment market reached a value of 13.51 billion dollars in Latin America, while, in Peru, the construction sector has been a fundamental engine for the country's progress, promoting development through execution of public and private projects, with heavy machinery supplier companies as its main ally. The company studied is a renowned multinational corporation focused on the marketing of heavy machinery, equipment and after-sales services related to the Caterpillar brand and other related brands, whose main clients belong to the mining and construction sectors. Despite its relevance and notable market participation, the company's inventory management process had low efficiency compared to the average for the sector in which it is located. To address this challenge and propose strategic solutions for the studied process, a solution was implemented based on the standardization of processes and the application of an optimal materials requirement plan, which facilitated the monitoring and meticulous measurement of activities in order to improve the efficiency of the inventory management process. This implementation proved to be very effective, considerably reducing the execution times of the subprocesses and, therefore, of the process in general, from 13 to only 8 business days and reducing the cost overruns generated by excess stored inventory. In summary, this improvement was crucial to increase the productivity and operational versatility of the company, representing an effective solution to the challenges in inventory management.
