In this paper, the improvement of the technological infrastructure of a recognized cinema chain is detailed. Previously, this chain had local servers through its different complexes distributed nationwide, which generated problems of inactivity, high costs and low scaling, so it was decided to centralize their servers through a virtualized platform based on VMware technology. The migration of the 44 complexes was carried out, virtualizing the physical servers at a rate of six cinemas per week. This process included the centralization of several critical systems, such as the Active Directory, the plasma display manager, the Wi-Fi antenna manager, and the scanning modules. This action produced a significant improvement in savings, efficiency, and functionality of the company's technological infrastructure, such as a reduction in operating costs of 69.7%. In addition, the availability improvement increased by 1.36% considering all the transactions that are generated per minute and improving system inactivity. Finally, the use of server resources was optimized, with an improvement of 26% with the use of the processor and 30% with the effective use of RAM memory. In summary, the migration to a virtualized platform based on VMware technology not only solved the problems of downtime and high costs, but also provided a more robust, efficient, and future-proof infrastructure, significantly improving operability.
