This research addresses the problem of logistics cost overruns in the import of finished products in the supply chain of Steel Master S.A. and determines the best alternative to solve this problem. In this sense, qualitative research was carried out through interviews and document review, using both primary and secondary sources. After an exhaustive analysis, three alternatives were proposed: Implementation of blockchain technology, custom software development and a supplier evaluation system. For this purpose, the advantages, disadvantages, implementation times, operational, strategic and financial feasibility of each of the proposed solutions were analyzed in order to choose the best solution. As a result, it was determined that the implementation of blockchain technology is the most appropriate solution, since it will optimize supply chain operations at the international level by reducing logistics cost overruns, providing real-time import status, security and competitiveness in the market.
