The main objective of the research is to analyze the maximum floods in the mentioned Pasto Grande dam, using the HEC-HMS software to simulate extreme hydrological events. Throughout the study, relevant information about the Zarumilla River basin is collected, focusing on predicting maximum flows at different points in the region. The use of tools such as HEC-HMS, Hydraccess, and ArcGIS for hydrological modeling is highlighted, along with the application of the Curve-Volume method and the concept of Tambo in data analysis. Results obtained, presented through descriptive figures and detailed summaries, provide valuable insights into the geomorphology, main river characteristics, and concentration times in the HEC-HMS software. In the conclusión, this study on maximum floods at the Pasto Grande dam, the importance of understanding hydrography and delineating sub-basins to establish a precise hydrological model is emphasized. The significance of the data inputted in the model, such as sub-basin areas and maximum 24-hour precipitation, is highlighted, as well as the use of the Clark Unit Hydrograph method to simulate the transit of maximum floods. The good fit of the simulated flows with the observed ones is mentioned, demonstrating the proper calibration of the HEC-HMS model to simulate hydrological and hydraulic conditions under different maximum flow scenarios. These results reflect the dam's capacity to handle larger water volumes during extreme events, which is crucial for hydraulic infrastructure planning and risk management in the region.
