In Latin America, women have been relegated in their social role throughout history. This deficient situation is aggravated when the woman is Andean, and becomes more acute when, in addition to being Andean, she is a migrant. Two contemporary Latin American films address this issue: The milk of sorrow (Llosa, 2009), by Peruvian director Claudia Llosa, and Lina from Lima (González, 2019), by Chilean director María Paz González. From that order of ideas, the objective of this research is to describe the evolution experienced by the Andean migrant woman from one film to another, which have in common that the role of the protagonist is embodied in the Peruvian actress Magaly Solier. For this purpose, a qualitative approach, hermeneutic design and descriptive scope were used under the interpretative paradigm. Content analysis was the data collection technique, for which an audiovisual content analysis matrix was elaborated, validated and applied. The most important results show that the evolution of the Andean migrant woman is explained by criteria such as motherhood, sexuality and occupational role. The prototypical character of the Andean woman in the first film evolves, in the second film, into an empowered, modern character, possessing agency and owning her decision-making. It is concluded that, by dealing with a common theme and presenting the same actress in the leading role, the two films can be interpreted as a single sequence that would configure the evolution of an Andean migrant woman in Latin America.
