Despite being a characteristic segment of the Peruvian financial market, the factors that determine sustainability in microfinance have not been sufficiently explored (Zamore, 2018). Therefore, considering CMACs in the study, as well as relevant theoretical and empirical background, it is proposed that income diversification maintains a significant relationship with the level of operational self-sufficiency, as well as with profitability indicators such as ROE and ROA. Likewise, control variables characteristic of each institution are added, such as size, experience, capitalization and deposits, in addition to the main exogenous variable, the diversification index (DIV). A balanced panel data model is proposed, while making use of fixed effects by statistical evaluation, the results show that there is a negative relationship between these variables and the DIV, in addition, this inverse relationship persists considering robustness for the totality of the estimated models, so the validity of the predictions of the agency costs over the expected ones from the concept of economies of scope is verified.
