The present work proposes the implementation of the RCM methodology with the objective of increasing the mechanical availability of telescopic cranes, whose operation results negatively influence the generation of profits. This proposal is composed of five chapters; In the first chapter, the background of the problem raised is studied, as well as the alternative solutions proposed by different authors. In the second chapter, the current situation of the company, the income and costs generated by the rental of its assets is described; the information treated, revealing the causes and analyzing them, discovering that the main causes of low availability are delays in the execution of maintenance due to the transportation of technical personnel, arrival of spare parts, undetected failure modes and incorrect operation of the equipment, representing These causes more than 80% of the origin of low mechanical availability. The third chapter makes a review of the solution methodologies proposed by different authors in the state of the art, thus linking the problem with the solution tools and evaluating the most appropriate one for the problem posed, likewise the conceptual development of the execution of RCM and TPM methodologies. The fourth chapter validates the implementation of the RCM – TPM model proposed through simulation as a validation method. The results of the application of the model give a mechanical availability of the telescopic cranes above 95%; while the MTTR indicator is reduced by more than 70% and the MTBF is increased by more than 100% for the analyzed equipment; while the economic evaluation presents favorable profitability indicators for the investment with an IRR greater than the discount rate.
