The main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between competitive strategy and business performance of public transportation companies in Metropolitan Lima, in 2022. Therefore, a mixed methodology with a non-experimental cross-sectional design was used, in which the relationship of these variables was analyzed during the indicated period through two data collection techniques: in-depth interviews with sector experts and surveys with representatives and officials from transportation companies. The result obtained indicated that there is no significant relationship between the variables. Although competitive strategy and business performance do not have a significant correlation, they do have a directly proportional relationship. That is, public transportation generates positive business performance indicators without applying competitive strategies. However, this research indicates that they would achieve better results with the application of such strategies. Similarly, this study can provide business improvement alternatives for both carriers and sector collaborators and give greater visibility to transport authorities about the difficulties that this system faces.
