The general objective of this research was to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and work stress. It is a quantitative, empirical, associative strategy and simple correlational design. The sample was made up of 105 officers from a military installation in the VRAEM between 25 and 50 years of age, women and men stationed in different cities of Peru. Non-probabilistic purposive sampling was used. The instruments applied were the ILO-WHO Job Stress Scale validated in Peru by Suarez (2016) and the Wong-Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS) adapted by Merino (2016) for the Peruvian population. In relation to the results, it was found that there is a correlation between emotional intelligence and work stress, being this relationship negative and moderate. That is, the higher the emotional intelligence, the lower the work stress.
