This paper was made because of the lack of research about the contributions of character design for self-representation of members of the furry community. This is why it was stablished as an objective to analize said contributions, as well as explain how a fursona represents an individual and what role these characters have on the online furry community. The initial hypothesis was that furry character design is useful to represent physical and emotional characteristics as well as identity so the users can create emotional attatchments for one another. A qualitative scope was stablished, as well as a descriptive scope and it doesn’t need experimentation due to the needs for the objectives. This is why it was decided to make a documentary analisys and an interview for the fursonas Kaizer and Atoq and their users. The conclusions obtained by contrasting the results with previous research indicate that fursonas represent their users graphically partially, idealy or a combination of both. Besides, fursonas can also make identity expression easier, as well as personality and ideals through graphic resources and style that the user chooses because of visual references that they identify with. Finally, the hypothesis was proven correct, because fursona character design uses visual codes to express the self-concept of their users, as well as it pretends to make emotional bonding between individuals easier.
