The objectives were to analyze the relationship between addiction to social networks and sensitivity to interpersonal rejection in young adults from Metropolitan Lima, as well as to identify differences according to gender. The type of study was empirical, with an associative strategy and a simple and comparative correlational design. Regarding our final sample, 127 young adults were obtained, 48% men and 52% women ranging in age from 18 to 25 years. Two instruments were used: Addiction to Social Networks (ARS-6) and Interpersonal Sensitivy Rejection (IPSM), which present adequate psychometric evidence. The results indicate that Addiction to social networks is positively related and with a magnitude between moderate and strong with the dimensions of Sensitivity to interpersonal rejection (p < .001), being between r = .479 to .708. Regarding our findings in the comparative analysis according to gender, notable differences are observed in two dimensions of the IPSM in the mean of “interpersonal awareness” (Mmen = 2.41 and Mwomen = 2.83) and “Need for Approval” (Mmen = 2.49 and Mwomen = 3.06). Given this, it is concluded that addiction to social networks is linked to pathological components of one's own personality; this problem is evident when the addiction is controlled by an emotional need. That is why many young people seek approval through their social networks. Based on the results, it is observed that it is women who show emotional dependence compared to men.
