Introduction: Worldwide, anemia continues to be a public health problem. In Peru, the prevalence of anemia in 2019 was 40%, in 2020 it remained at 39.9% and in 2022 there was an increase of up to 42.2% in cases of anemia in children under five years of age. Furthermore, due to confinement, COVID-19 screening was prioritized, causing the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases to be neglected. Objective: Determine the associated factors and differences in the consumption of iron nutritional supplements in children under 5 years of age according to ENDES 2019 and 2020. Material and Methods: Secondary analyzes obtained from the National Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2019-2020. Chi square was used for the bivariate analysis and a Generalized Linear Model (GLM) log binomial family was used to calculate crude and adjusted prevalence ratios. Results: 21,041-17,119 women of childbearing age with a living child under 5 years of age were evaluated; of the ENDES 2019 and 2020 respectively. The highest percentage of the mothers surveyed was between 27 and 49 years of age (66.44%). Those mothers who received training in breastfeeding and monitored their growth and development had a greater incidence of providing iron nutritional supplements. Conclusions: There are factors associated with the consumption of nutritional iron supplements, such as breastfeeding training and CRED. Social confinement led to the neglect of a large number of diseases such as anemia and prevention measures, affecting the delivery processes of Iron nutritional supplements.
