The problem of low production yield has a widespread impact on both efficiency and profitability across various industries. The aforementioned issue has far-reaching consequences, such as increased expenses, operational inefficiency, and challenges in production planning. Therefore, the focus of this present professional sufficiency work is to improve the smelting performance in a mining company. The proposal consists of a novel method that utilizes industrial engineering tools to address this issue. It focuses on three aspects: the study of methods to establish a new, more accurate production estimation method, Statistical Process Control (SPC) to identify essential variables in out-of-control batches, and finally, poka yoke to prevent performance impacts by controlling environmental variations, with an emphasis on temperature control. The results obtained show an improvement in performance, increasing from 73.5% to 74.1%
