The present study is based on the research conducted by the authors, referred to as “Lean Manufacturing Application Model to Reduce Order Delivery Delays in a Metalwork Company” (Wong et al., 2022) and “Propuesta de mejora para reducir los retrasos en la entrega de pedidos, mediante la aplicación de Lean Manufacturing en una empresa metalmecánica” (Rodriguez & Wong, 2021), wich consisted of: Through the analysis of the current situation of the company, it was possible to show that the general problem is the delay in the delivery of orders and that there are various causes that cause it. In the analysis it was found that there are excessive times in the set up of the machinery, where activities that are carried out are unnecessary and do not add a real value in production. Likewise, it was possible to see that there is waste scattered throughout the plant that makes the work of the operators difficult. In response to this, an improvement model was developed based on the lean manufacturing methodology using tools such as 5S, KAIZEN, SMED, and Total Productive Management (autonomous and preventive maintenance). Through the steps that each one of them has; Such is the case of KAIZEN, which will help determine the current situation and through SMED, 5S, TPM (Autonomous and Preventive Maintenance) improvement proposals will be made. Likewise, with the SMED, a study of the current situation will be carried out by means of the collection of the times used in the configuration of the machinery, then the classification of external and internal activities will be carried out. Later, internal activities will be sought to be converted into external ones and external ones will be reduced, the area will be ordered with the 5S to facilitate the work of the operators and the process will be optimized together with Autonomous and Preventive Maintenance. Afterwards, the proposals will be analyzed with the support of the Arena software and the results will be obtained after having implemented the aforementioned tools.
