One of the main challenges in higher education management is schedule allocation, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI, 2015). The university population grew by approximately 7% between the years 2000 and 2014. This implies that the academic planning of universities must consider various factors in academic, financial, and logistical terms. The present work focuses on analyzing the problem of the allocation of schedules for midterm and final exams of a university, in which the different restrictions and rules make it complex to deal with, then there are many scenarios that must be considered to achieve a highly efficient planning and programming. Several technologies allow us to get a solution considering all the point of view of these activities in order to optimize time and costs procedures. Furthermore, an alternative solution will be contemplated, under the agile framework, to speed up deliveries of value products, likewise cutting-edge technologies have been analyzed, such as: Cloud computing, Machine Learning and Genetic Algorithms. These constitute many alternatives to tackle a problem as complex as the one described. Finally, we support the use of these tools to carry out planning and scheduling in order to optimize the use of technological, infrastructure and personnel resources which will allow us not only to automate the procedures of the Academic Registry Department, but also make them more efficient.
