Inefficient operations management practices in the small-scale mining sector cause cost overruns. A tentative solution is to increase sales prices so that companies in the sector can be economically viable. However, it is not a feasible solution, since mining extracts commodities that by their very nature have fluctuating prices in the market. The purpose of this study is to manage the operations of mining companies and, as a consequence, reduce costs, through the use of a productivity management model, which will allow the mining company to register, measure, control, and analyze data, coupling to effective standards according to their own capacity that will achieve beneficial effects within the unit. Likewise, knowing the bottleneck and strategic inventories so that the operation reduces the risks of stoppages with the objective of reducing operating costs. The proposed model was studied and tested in the mining company NEGEN - UNIT: “Virgen de Culluhuay“ located in Peru, Lima - Canta. In this, greater productivity was achieved from tons 1843 Tn/Month to 2476.00 Tn/H and reduction of production costs of S/. 53.70 to S/. 42.50 soles. It is worth mentioning that by measuring, recording, controlling and analyzing data, mining companies can make effective decisions to improve and reduce high operating costs.
