Due to the lack of audiovisual products with subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH) in Peru, the SDH of the documentary “When Two Worlds Collide” (2016) directed by Heidi Brandenburg y Mathew Orzel aims to generate a contribution to the community of people with hearing disabilities in this country. This applied research with a qualitative approach evaluates the process and SDH strategies of the above-mentioned documentary through a contrast matrix prepared on the basis of the standard UNE 153010, the ISTRAD derivative of the standard UNE 153010, and Jiménez (2007). Based on the results obtained through the focus groups, it was found that for the comprehension of the documentary it is necessary to use simple language because it involves a lesser number of characters per second (CPS) than the amount that the original audio of the documentary comprehends, which allows us to respect the recommended number of characters per second.
