Objective: To compare the satisfaction and perception of parents regarding the orthodontic treatment of their children according to the stage and type of material. Materials and Methods: The study design was observational, analytical and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 159 parents with children under 18 years of age who are receiving orthodontic treatment in metropolitan Lima. Self-report questions were asked, in addition, variables such as age, sex, district of residence, person in charge of providing treatment, oral hygiene, stage, orthodontic material, dentist satisfaction, treatment satisfaction, service satisfaction, patient satisfaction were analyzed. braces, self-image perception, daily functions, social life, treatment recommendation, child's attitude, social acceptance and treatment compliance were analyzed. For the bivariate analysis, the Chi-square and Fisher's Exact statistical tests were used to compare the satisfaction and perception variables with the stage of treatment and the material. Results: The age that predominated was adulthood from 31 to 60 years, having children within adolescence, the majority being male and the parents female. Parents were satisfied or very satisfied with the dentist, treatment, service, and braces. There were statistically significant differences, which were obtained regarding perception variables of self-image, daily functions, social life and treatment recommendation according to the stage treatment, equally with the material. Conclusions: The satisfaction and perception of the parents is influenced by the type of material used, in the same way with the stage of treatment. Parents are most satisfied during the finishing and finishing stage. Likewise, the preferred material is conventional metal brackets.
