The purpose of this research was to determine if there is a relationship between teachers' assertiveness and their students' academic performance, also, between teachers' empathy and academic performance. The study takes into account the census population of teachers who teach science courses in the first two terms in the business school of a private university in Lima. A quantitative and correlational cross-sectional study was carried out. The Bar-On inventory (ICE) was used to determine the level of empathy and assertiveness of the teachers. Likewise, data on the academic performance of the 2700 students were obtained at the end of the 2022-2 academic year. Pearson's correlation analysis shows that there is no statistically significant relationship between teacher assertiveness and academic performance, r(19)=0.297, p=0.191. Similarly, it shows that there is no statistically significant relationship between teacher empathy and academic performance r(19)=0.021, p=0.927. From the results found, it can be concluded that, although the results indicate that there is no significant relationship between teacher assertiveness and empathy and academic performance, previous research shows that there is a relationship between the teacher's socioemotional skills and the teaching-learning process, which in turn affects the student's academic performance. Therefore, it is recommended to investigate which socioemotional skills of the teacher have the greatest impact on the formation of successful students.
