The great demand from the manufacturing sector has led to several organizations generating overproduction, causing a high level of their inventories. The company in study dedicated to the production of PVC pipes registers that 36.73% of its problems are due to the high level of its inventories, that signify that has a low turnover of your inventories compared to the ideal for the manufacturing sector. This is caused by the differences between the physical and countable inventory, overproduction, and other reasons. Therefore, it is proposed an improvement model for finished product inventories turnover by implementing S&OP, which will allow planning both material requirements and adequate production based on demand forecasts, this with the help of planning tools like MRP and MPS. Also, the 5S will help to obtain an adequate order, the standardization of all its activities and the maintenance of discipline for continuous improvement. The results were validated through a systems simulation, achieving an 80% reduction in the stock level, in addition, a complete reduction in excess purchases of inputs. Likewise, an improvement in inventory recording precision of 60.57%, a increase of indicator turnover of your inventories of 5.15 and a reduction of forecast error by 95.67% was achieved. In addition, the Development of this Project is economically viable, since was obtained an internal rate of return (IRR) of 86.79% and a recovery period of the investment of one year with one month approximately.
