Objective: Determine if there is an association between the attendance of mothers to the Vaso de Leche program (PVL) and the prevalence of anemia in children between 6 and 35 months, as well as to establish the prevalence of PVL beneficiaries in our study sample and to search for Associated factors. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional observational study where a secondary analysis of the ENDES 2019 was carried out. The population studied were children from 6 to 35 months of age, children of mothers who answered the questions of the Social Programs per Household module. Our outcome variable was the presence of anemia in the child and the exposure was attending the PVL. We used a multivariate Poisson regression model to explore the association between the presence of anemia in the child with sociodemographic variables, social programs, and characteristics of the mother and child. For this adjusted model, a value of p<0.05 was considered significant. Results: Regarding the Glass of Milk program, we didn´t find an association between the attendance to the Vaso de Leche food program and the prevalence of anemia in children between 6 and 35 months (PR 1.00; 95% CI 0.98 – 1.03). Factors associated with the prevalence of anemia were living in the mountain range, speaking Spanish, having a mother with anemia and being of the female sex. Regardless of attending the program, in our study we have a prevalence of anemia in children of 47.89%, considered as a serious public health problem. Conclusions: The percentage of mothers with children between 6 and 35 months who attend the PVL was 46.80%. There wasn´t an association between attendance at the Vaso de Leche food program and prevalence in children between 6 and 35 months (PR 1.00; 95% CI 0.98 – 1.03). The factors associated with a higher prevalence of anemia were residing in the mountain range and having a mother with anemia. The one factor related to a lower prevalence of anemia was having Spanish as a language.
