The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that in the course of the year 2023 approximately 1710 million people around the world suffer from musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs); within which 560 million are associated with lumbar ailments; and these in turn are related to the working conditions under which one works as the origin of their suffering. In that sense, one can consider associating TMEs as an agent or cause in the decline of workers’ productivity in different industrial sectors (mining, construction, fishing, textiles, agriculture, etc.); since, if the condition of the disorder worsens or becomes chronic over time, the work absenteeism index also increases. For such a reason, suffering TME represents a significant problem for production in industry and occupational health. In Peru, the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) records in its Monthly Report of Reported Occupational Accidents and Diseases that for the month of May a 7.16% corresponds to occupational diseases reported from the mining and exploitation sector of quarries (activities associated with the cement industry). Likewise, within this percentage it is recorded with a 3.5% to TMEs as a significant part of work-associated diseases. In that statistical framework lies our central problem of study; which we aim to give solution with the present Professional Sufficiency Work (VSW), whose objective is geared towards reducing work absenteeism originated by TMEs by redesigning jobs corresponding to a mechanical operator of conveyor belts and mill hammers into one cement factory to the interior of the country. For this purpose, industrial engineering concepts such as plant distribution, journey diagrams, ergonomic assessments (RULA, OWAS, REBA), cause – effect analyses, management of indicators associated with the problem, the optimization of processes and movements under the ergonomic criteria previously studied throughout the race.
