The objective of this research is to analyze the salary effects generated by internal migration throughout the wage distribution of workers in the receiving department. The impact is evaluated on the 5,10,25,50,70 and 95th percentiles of the wage distribution, considering the migration ratio of each department. It should be noted that immigrants are not categorized according to their skills, in order to avoid an erroneous estimate, since recent immigrants are generally not employed in jobs according to their qualifications after their arrival. The analysis covers the years between 2016-2020 and uses ordinary least squares to examine whether the incidence of migration on the wages of the native population is positive or negative. The results conclude in the lower percentiles of the wage distribution the effect is negative due to the substantial number of immigrants, while in the highest percentiles the effect is positive.
