The present work on Professional Sufficiency seeks to explain the process of implementing Industrial Engineering tools, as a strategy to reduce failures in the GPS equipment used in a vehicle tracking company, solving the causes of the problems that arise in the equipment programming and installation processes. This implementation was carried out through the execution of a pilot plan. The personnel involved in the life cycle of the GPS equipment used by the company participated in this plan. The execution of the pilot plan meant carrying out a detailed analysis, in the laboratory, of the operation of the GPS equipment and its failure modes, as well as its programming and installation procedures. With this, it was possible to determine the necessary modifications and improvements in the studied processes. During the last phase of execution of the plan, and as a result of the monitoring carried out, a reduction was observed in the amount of equipment with failures and, consequently, in the number of corrective maintenances within their warranty period. This reduction meant an increase in the productivity of operational personnel and in the availability of GPS equipment in the tracking services provided by the company. Likewise, a reduction in operating costs was achieved due to a lower number of damaged or unusable equipment, and consequently, the improvement of the service availability index for clients, evidencing the effectiveness of the application of the methodology within the processes. production and maintenance in the organization.
