The impacts due to rain are aggravated by the waterproofing of soils, the El Niño phenomenon and climate change, causing damage to the economic, social, education and health sectors of the department of Tacna. The city of Tacna experiences intense rains during the months of December, January, February and March, which are more frequent each year, generating an increase in flow. The objective of this research is to estimate the maximum flows of the Caplina River, associated with return periods of 10, 25, 50 and 100 years, using the Clark unit hydrograph. For which satellite, hydrological and pluviometric information was collected, said information was compiled by the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (SENAMHI), the National Water Authority (ANA) and the Ministry of Education (MINEDU). With the information collected, the study area was delimited and the geomorphological parameters of the Caplina River basin were obtained. This process was carried out using the HEC-GeoHMS software. The meteorological information allowed us to calculate the design rainfall using alternating blocks for return periods of 10, 25, 50 and 100 years, for six sub-basins of the study area. Finally, the hydrographs are developed using the Clark unit hydrograph transformation method, SCS loss method and for flood traffic the Muskingum method, obtaining the maximum flows for each return period. The maximum flows through the Clark unit hydrograph were 131.2 m3/s, 192.2 m3/s, 251.6 m3/s and 324.6 m3/s for the return periods of T=10 years, T=25 years, T=50 years and T =100 years respectively, said flows present in the W150 basin.
