The plastic industry in Peru, which represented 3.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020, is facing a significant challenge: low equipment availability in its highly automated processes. To address this issue, the present study focuses on the combined implementation of three fundamental pillars: Planned Maintenance, and Autonomous Maintenance, to be later carried out with the assistance of the PDCA methodology (Plan, Do, Check and Act). The outcome of this strategy is a remarkable increase in productivity, shifting from the current level of 77.91% to an outstanding 81.74%. This achievement can be largely attributed to a substantial improvement of 9.91% in equipment availability. This progress has been facilitated by a significant reduction in the Meantime to Repair (MTTR) by 9.07%. What stands out most about this comprehensive approach is its undeniable effectiveness in optimizing manufacturing processes, which has a considerable and positive impact on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
