The purpose of this project is to implement the SMED methodology in order to increase the availability of extrusion line No. 01 in a company in the plastic sector. In the company under study, it has been identified that extrusion line 01 has an availability below 81.7% in the last 12 months of 2022 caused by unproductive times and reprocessing in the production area. Likewise, these causes generate an economic impact of S/. 721 350.00. The implementation of the SMED model was carried out through 4 fundamental steps. Firstly, the batch change activities are detected and it is evident how the process develops on the extrusion line. Second, the internal and external activities of the batch change process are identified. Third, internal activities are converted into external activities. Finally, it standardizes activities that have become external to provide continuous process performance. Finally, technical and economic validation is carried out to guarantee the viability of the proposal. This validation is carried out by simulating the process in the Arena software and the economic variation through the IRR and NPV which guarantee the profitability of the proposal.
