Inventory Management has proven to be a key factor for success and sustainability in the oil industry. However, various sources show that one of the main problems in this industry is the low level of inventory service due to the high variability of it's suppliers' delivery times. This project was carried out in a refinery located in Peru whose main problem is the insufficient amount of inventory of critical raw materials to cover the demand of the production area since its suppliers do not comply with the deliveries of the products in the agreed conditions and there are delays in the issuance of replenishment requests by the company. The initial diagnosis shows that the company's service level is 16.00% below the Best Practice proposed by the literature which generated in the last year an economic cost overrun of USD 1'284,035.39. For this reason, a causal analysis of the problem was developed, which led to the implementation of an Inventory Management Model based on Lean Warehousing and the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) system. The main result of the implementation was the reduction of the economic impact by 85.31% by increasing the level of service by 17.47%.
