This research project was carried out at Industrias Corcor S.R.L., a company specialized in the exclusive manufacture of metal stairs. The company was subjected to an exhaustive analysis and diagnosis with the purpose of implementing improvements in its production processes. During recent years, significant costs associated with various problems in production processes have been identified that have prevented achieving the planned goals to satisfy annual demand. The presence of various types of defects in the manufacturing of stairs has generated a decrease in efficiency and has had a negative economic impact of 18.41% on the company's annual income. Therefore, it was decided to design a continuous improvement project oriented towards micro and small businesses (SME), focused on the principles of lean manufacturing and work study. This project begins with a background review, the theoretical framework and the current state of the field, in which various tools to be used are identified, such as the study of work methods and autonomous maintenance, among others. Then, a comprehensive analysis and diagnosis of the company's initial situation is carried out. Subsequently, the factors responsible for low efficiency and their impact on the company are examined. Finally, improvements are proposed with the objective of their effective implementation.
