During 2021 and 2022, the shortage of cancer drugs was triggered in Peru. Previous statements from the last link in the supply chain pointed to different factors that caused the shortage that generated delays in drug deliveries and even suspension of them, thus increasing the chances of death of cancer patients in Lima hospitals. In this qualitative research, carried out throughout the entire supply chain of oncological drugs in Peru, the experiences experienced by professionals at each stage of the supply chain of oncological drugs during this problem were analyzed, ranging from the process from a supplier of raw materials, through the manufacturer of medicines, drugstore and the main warehouse-distributor in the country, finding logistical causes generated by the COVID-19 scenarios, the Ukraine-Russia conflict and by the management of the people in the chain of supplies, being the central objective of this research work. In this way, the root causes of the logistical causes were also found and with them the actions for a better management of each process of the supply chain were determined, applicable to external causes such as the contexts of COVID-19 and the Ukraine-Russia conflict as well as well as for the internal factor such as the management of those responsible for the processes in the supply chain and thus cushion the impacts of the shortage of cancer drugs in the hospitals of Lima (SIS and EsSalud) in 2021 and 2022.
