This research work addresses the application of the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology in the Alstom trains of Lima's metro line 1. The main objective is to improve the availability of the train fleet door system. In Chapter I, the theoretical framework will be developed, including the concepts of RCM methodology, root cause analysis of failures, analysis of modes, effects, causes of failures, availability, and reliability. In Chapter II, the organizational issues are described, from the description of the organization, the rolling stock area where the maintenance activities to the Alstom train fleet are performed. In addition, this chapter will identify the problem, the current technical gap in comparison with the Mexican metro and the economic impact of the problem. An analysis of the current state of the maintenance system of the Alstom trains on line 1 of the Lima metro is carried out. The existing problems and causes are identified. Then, in chapter III, following the steps of the previous chapters. The engineering proposal, the detailed design of the solution, the design of indicators, the implementation and the development schedule are carried out. Finally, in Chapter IV, the economic impact assessment will be carried out, calculating the VAN and TIR in order to determine the feasibility of the project under study.
