The present work of Professional Sufficiency covers the improvement of the OEE indicator in a flexographic printing plant of corrugated cardboard boxes. The development of the project is aligned to the Lean Manufacturing methodology. The main problems that directly affect the availability and performance dimensions were analyzed. We reviewed the factors associated with the times in which the printing plant was in standby as scheduled stops, unscheduled stops and assembly. It was found that it was the unscheduled downtime that led the machine downtime. In view of this, we proceeded to analyze the causes that originated the high unscheduled downtimes, verifying that this was generated by high operational downtimes and machine failures, which originated 51% of unscheduled downtimes. To reduce these problems, Industrial Engineering tools for continuous improvement were implemented, such as Standard Work and TPM with its pillars of autonomous maintenance and focused improvement. For operational stoppages due to high regulation and cleaning times, work standardization was implemented, reducing downtime by 33%. For machine failures, both mechanical and electrical, the pillars of autonomous maintenance and focused improvement were implemented, resulting in a 44% reduction in stoppages. It is observed that the improvement of OEE is having favorable results, reflecting an improvement of OEE from 40 to 53%, with a 13% improvement in comparison.
