Social development is related to technological development, which has allowed telecommunications to position itself as one of the most important tools to meet the objectives by facilitating interpersonal communication, exchange of ideas, agreements and teamwork without limitations of time and space. This implies changes in society that improve the lifestyle and the need to satisfy the service by providing support, reliability and confidence in the use of this medium. Society was forced to adapt to every requirement with the use of digital platforms creating virtual classrooms for education, work meetings, teleworking from home, virtual medical appointments, increase of online stores and delivery shipments exponentially, which would have been impossible without the remarkable development of telecommunications and its support against the enormous responsibility that was forced to sustain. Providing a good service is the key to obtain reliability and customer loyalty, which is why it is so important to maintain the outside plant, a physical fiber optic medium for the transport of data from the central office to the customer. As it is installed in the public road, it may be vulnerable to damage in various scenarios that may cause service failures. The improvement in the maintenance management of external plant infrastructure is vital to maintain the service with profitable operating costs, the strategy used should be able to provide guarantees for the sustainability of operations, which is why the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) was chosen to standardize the identification of problems, work activities, maintenance planning and prevention, in order to minimize service failures, optimize costs and improve the reliability of customers.
