The present study is focused on the application of industrial engineering techniques and tools to improve the production processes of an explosives manufacturing company. As a result of the absorption by a transnational company, there are much more demanding and challenging corporate standards for measuring results and efficiency of all plants. One of the key indicators that is measured transversally at all plants is the percentage of losses in relation to their production volume, whose annual objective according to standard is to achieve a maximum of 2%. The first chapter details the problem of the reinforcement manufacturing plant, whose percentage of losses for the year 2022 is 4.54%, well above the maximum limit defined by current standards, which represents a loss for the company. of $112,404.60. In the second chapter, we address the problem and the analysis of the causes in a more focused way through the classification of losses by type. In chapter 3, we design an engineering methodological proposal through the application of 5S, poka-yoke, planned maintenance tools, framed within the Kaizen philosophy. In chapter 4, we show the monthly results for the period 2023, which details the positive impact of the proposal, since the percentage of losses was reduced to below the maximum limit allowed by the company's standards and that this is sustainable and scale to other processes.
