This work details the step-by-step application of the RCM methodology in the equipment of a thermoelectric power plant. This application of the RCM methodology allowed us to identify the systems and subsystems of the equipment and then, based on the level of criticality, to find the critical components of each equipment. For this purpose, a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis of Critical Systems and Subsystems (FMEA) was performed and with the Risk Priority Number (RPN) the failure modes of the most critical components were determined. Consequently, through the decision sheet, the tasks proposed by each specific area were generated. Finally, it was validated that the non-compliance of scheduled maintenance and the lack of post-maintenance equipment testing were reduced, which reduces the constant equipment failures and through the operational reliability indicator this can be reflected, so that the company now has higher income.
