Literary translation studies approach the treatment of different concepts and linguistic phenomena, among these is the translation of the literary narrator, a topic also related to narratology. This research focuses on the translation of the unnatural narrator of the novel Cáscara de nuez written by Ian McEwan. This object of study is characterized by having an unborn narrator living in his mother's womb who is aware of what is happening around him, which identifies him as “unnatural“; this element is the main focus to be investigated. Previous research on the translation of the unnatural narrator is limited, so this paper aims to contribute to the theory on this topic by revealing the translation procedure and strategies followed when dealing with this type of narrator. To achieve that, a main objective has been defined to guide the research: analyze the translation of the unnatural narrator in the novel Cáscara de nuez. It is presupposed that McEwan's narrator is characterized through his childlike physical nature and mature personality, is translated using the methods of free translation and literal translation, and plays the role of communicating the novel's themes through his speech.
