The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic and the mandatory quarantine in Perú increased the cases of domestic violence in the country, and, consequently, the news about this social issue. Based on this, this research examines the media coverage of the written press on femicide crimes in the nation during and after the mandatory quarantine, from 2020 to 2021. The main objective is to identify the journalistic patterns in how these cases are presented to the public. The significance of this study lies in its compilation of information from previous researches and its determination of media biases regarding a sensitive issue like femicide. For decades, the representation of women in Peruvian media has faced heavy criticism for adhering to sexualization and the use of stereotypes, which is reflected in the way narratives perpetuate gender inequality. Examining a period as significant as the years 2020 and 2021 is crucial for understanding how Peruvians perceive women in critical situations and for considering the social responsibility that the media bears in their reporting on such news.
