Currently, Peruvian organizations in the plastics sector manage indicators that reflect around 71.45% use of their capacity, that is, they refer to the extent to which they use their production potential, which is affected by efficiency problems. In this context, the organization under study is considered to have a decline (65%), which is attributed to quality and operation defects such as reprocessing, unproductive times and losses. The objective of this work was to apply the Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) tool of Lean manufacturing to improve efficiency in the Extrusion line of a plastic manufacturing company. The tool was applied in 5 phases, first, an evaluation of the current situation was carried out, to then classify and convert internal activities into external ones, then the activities were organized and their new appearance and sequence were modeled; Finally, the process was standardized through processes and instructions. To carry out the functional validation, current was used. When comparing the results obtained. In relation to the average 8 TN coils, it increased by 148 units per year, which implies an increase in efficiency of 13%; Regarding the economic analysis, the improvement is viable given the positive NPV of S/ 1,067,699.15and an IRR of 102.00% (higher than the opportunity interest rate).
