The main objective of this report is to explain the process that was carried out through an EMS of the current soil at the base of Diesel Storage Tank No. 2 so that it meets the requirements of Supreme Decree No. 052-93-EM. Tank No. 2 is located in the Conchán – Petroperú Refinery, it is approximately 50 years old since it was built, at that time there were no current regulations that could provide the scope of a soil mechanics study (EMS), and thus guarantee the stability of the foundations of hydrocarbon storage tanks, among others. At the Conchán Refinery there is an Annual Adequacy Plan for the storage tanks, for this reason Tank No. 2 enters this Adequacy Plan for 2020 at the request of the Supervisory Body for Investment in Energy and Mining (OSINERGMIN), according to Article No. 34 of Supreme Decree No. 052-93-EM “For the foundation project, complete knowledge of the soil conditions must be obtained, requiring at least the following determinations: Bearing capacity of the soil, risk of flotation or liquefaction, total settlements and expected differentials.” In this stage, the necessary studies of the terrain will be carried out through pits, standard and special tests to determine, according to the results obtained, the input material to improve the soil, the depth of the foundation, the admissible bearing capacity, the settlements and the general recommendations.
