In Peru, the number of orders placed through electronic businesses expanded by 10 (Infomercado, 2022), obtaining a growth of 25% in 2021 where payment cards were the main means of payment chosen by Peruvians (Fashion Network, 2022). Regarding card transactions, the pandemic has increased digital banking and e-commerce, as consumers have tried to avoid any in-person transactions in branches and stores. However, card non-present (CNP) transactions constitute the majority of fraud at around 65%. Therefore, financial institutions find themselves in the need to issue credit and debit cards, with the 3-DS or Verified by Visa (for the Visa brand), SafeKey (American Express) and SureCode (MasterCard) security protocols., with the objective of avoiding CNP (Card No Present) type fraud and providing security to customers when making online purchases. That is why ABC company implemented its SureKey Card authentication solution to BCD bank, which is a solution built based on EMV 3-DS (also called 3-D Secure 2.1) to support MasterCard Identity Check and authentication systems. Verified by Visa. The implementation began with the collection of information from the bank with the shared format and generating the data encryption keys for all sensitive information that will be saved in the database and another for the mass registration process of issued cards. After making the configurations of texts, images, bins, decision matrix in the RBA, brands, key exchanges, etc., using tools such as Postman, Kleopatra, WinSCP, Robo3t, Test Card Generator and the services provided by AWS, the UAT environment was shared with the client with the objective of validating everything done before deploying to Production. As a result, after completing the implementation of the solution to the BCD financial institution, approximately 6 thousand users were registered for the Mastercard Identity Check program. These users now have additional protection that guarantees security and privacy when purchasing online in more than 1 million businesses in 122 countries that support transactions made with ID Check. Consequently, at the time a purchase is made, the bank validates a set of data and if the RBA provides a high fraud rate, a dynamic key is sent by SMS and/or email which is valid for 180 seconds before the transaction is confirmed. Likewise, thanks to the implementation, the bank managed to detect that 30% of transactions represent a high rate of fraud and only 20% manage to successfully authenticate during their purchase.
