Today, small and medium-sized companies face a significant order fulfillment challenge, resulting in a decline in the quality of the service they provide. At the same time, these companies lack experience in applying continuous improvement approaches and in training their staff as an effective strategy to address this problem. Achieving this objective is essential to avoid reprocesses, non-compliance with the production plan and loss of sales. To achieve this, it is necessary to establish an efficient distribution that reduces unnecessary displacements between production areas, optimizes the time spent in production and allows an adequate operational flow. The purpose of this research is to minimize unnecessary movements between mattress production areas that do not add value to the production process and, at the same time, to reduce the time dedicated to production in order to increase the satisfaction of the mattress demand plan. To achieve this, a production model is proposed that integrates Lean Manufacturing best practices and work study techniques using Systematic Layout Planning and standardization of production processes. This involves a reorganization of the layout of the facilities and seeks to optimize the production flow of the mattresses. In this process, the company's standard mattress production line was examined, evaluating production and transport times between the areas involved in the manufacturing process. As a result, a remarkable 30% increase in operational efficiency was achieved. Therefore, it is expected that companies dedicated to the furniture and mattresses sector will consider these results as a relevant example for their continuous improvement process, which will result in greater business efficiency and increased customer satisfaction.
