This study investigates the management of documentation review in an audit firm and the challenge of meeting deadlines as per the client contract. Using the analysis of the time taken to complete audits, a consistent delay in the submission of financial reports to the client was observed. We have examined the influence of some of the factors that generated delays in the review of audit documentation, and it was observed that the most recurring cause of missed deadlines was the lack of standardization in working papers, in the working paper review process and in the development and issuance of reports. Our findings suggest that the application of Scrum and Lean Thinking in the document review process reduces reporting times by 69.39%, reduces staff turnover by 50.00%, improves service awareness rates in the team by 250.00% and reduces the number of reworked reports by 94.00%. This work contributes to the company having a basis for standardizing special documentation review processes and, in the same way, for other companies working in the same field to use our model as a reference when implementing these tools.
