This paper investigates the Impact of Financial Development on Environmental Sustainability in the Pacific Alliance Countries. It uses data collected from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Global Carbon Atlas for the period 2011 to 2021. Sustainability is defined as CO2 emissions. And Financial Development as the state of financial institutions and markets. This research used the Sys-GMM model to address endogeneity issues and improve efficiency in parameter estimation. The results of the statistical tests are remarkable, as the Sargan test yields no evidence to reject the null hypothesis. In addition, the Arellano and Bond test indicates the absence of serial correlation in the errors, suggesting that endogeneity has been effectively addressed in the regressions performed. As a consequence, a positive impact on the development index of financial institutions is observed, offset by a negative impact on the development index of financial markets. Finally, this study proposes the implementation of strategies that promote policies that support the fight against climate change, while advocating improvements in financial systems. This would not only contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable economy, but would also promote an enabling environment for the adoption of greener financial practices.
